WHAT IS THE BREAK IT DOWN PROJECT?
The student leaders at Sunshine Heights PS want to raise awareness about stereotyping and bias, and its negative impact on the mental health of our young communities, by inviting young people throughout the West to share their stories, creativity, connections and social change in a magazine and documentary - by young people, for young people - highlighting our own experiences with stereotyping and commitment to breaking it down! They also want to lead change by starting an annual 'Break It Down' Day on October 13th, so schools can pledge their commitment to 'BREAK IT DOWN!' and promote true inclusion and belonging.
HOME: Quote
A stereotype is a mistaken idea or belief many people have about a thing or group that is based upon how they look on the outside, which may be untrue or only partly true.
